Real Books
When learning jazz piano, the first thing you'll need to buy is a real book. A real book is a collection of jazz songs in the form of lead sheets (a melody line with chord symbols above). Each real book comes with a different selection of jazz songs, so you should choose which real book you buy based on the songs it comes with (choose whichever book has the most songs you want to learn)...
Below is a list of the four real books which I own. Each of these real books is 'in C' (for piano players):
