Q+A
How many videos are in each course?
Most courses are 10 - 25 lessons (roughly 3 hours total). My introductory course 'Interval Arithmetic' is just 3 lessons.
How long is each video?
Most videos are 10-20 minutes, with concise delivery.
Which subscription is right for me - Monthly or Yearly?
If you're serious about achieving jazz piano success - then the Yearly option will give you the best results. You'll have the time that's needed to go through the courses and do the practice exercises.
Do I need any other equipment?
I recommend all students buy a Real Book (roughly $30) to accompany watching the courses. This is so that you can apply what you learn to your real jazz songs after each lesson.
I don’t read music - can I still join?
You only have to read treble clef to play jazz (so that you can play from a real book).
If you don't read music yet - watch my video that shows you how to read music before you join:
Watch my 'how to read music' video
I don’t play piano - is this still for me?
Yes. Piano skills are important for all jazz musicians - even if the piano isn’t your primary instrument. I recommend the Jazz Tutorial Courses for all instruments - as most of my lessons are equally relevant to all instruments.
You must be familiar with the notes on the keyboard (I teach through the piano), and you must have access to a piano to do the exercises.
Does this give me access to The Musical Ear course?
Unfortunately not. The two courses are separate (The Musical Ear is my previous course focused exclusively on ear training, whereas the Jazz Tutorial courses are focused exclusively on jazz piano). Both are big topics and should be tackled separately.
I'm a Musical Ear member - does my membership give me access to the Jazz Tutorial courses too?
Unfortunately not. The Jazz Tutorial courses are a new set of training focused exclusively on jazz piano.
I still don't know if this is right for me - what should I do?
I would love for you to try the new courses and see for yourself. You have a 90 day money back guarantee for the yearly membership, so if for any reason it turns out not to be right for you - just email me and I'll refund your purchase. That's what my money back guarantee is there for!
More Q+A
Is it safe for me to pay with my credit card on your website?
Yes. This website has an SSL certificate - which protects your personal information using encryption, and your payment is handled by Stripe's secure checkout, which is embedded on this website.
Do I get complete access to everything from day 1 - or do I have to stay subscribed as the content drip out?
You get complete access to the first 2 courses today (Interval Arithmetic and Jazz Fundamentals) which I've already posted to the member's area. I am still making Improvisation Step By Step, and my Chord Voicing Intensive courses - and you will be the first to receive these when I post them:
Improvisation Step By Step will be posted in January 2019.
Chord Voicing Intensive will be posted in April 2019.
How is this different to your YouTube videos?
YouTube is not an effective way for me to teach jazz piano. The videos aren't in order, and they focus on the 'quick win' aspects of jazz piano that are most entertaining to watch.
But to learn jazz piano you have to do various practice exercises that would never make it as YouTube video. The Jazz Tutorial Membership courses show you what's actually required to master jazz piano (not just the highlights). And it teaches you everything in order, from the ground up.
By the end of each course, you’ll have a feeling of completion - rather than always wondering if there’s more you need to learn.
What happens when enrollment closes?
The Jazz Tutorial Membership is only available while enrollment is open. After enrollment closes, it will be at least 3 months before you can join again. Today's Founder Rate pricing is only guaranteed for this enrollment, and will likely increase as I publish more courses to the Membership.
What happens if I unsubscribe? Can I re-subscribe later?
Yes, you can unsubscribe at any time, and join again during a future enrollment.
